Distinction in Aging Studies Master’s/Ph.D. Thesis Awards

Senex: Journal of Aging Studies and Research Worldwide Istanbul, with the support of Lund University’s Raoul Wallenberg Institute annually grant Distinction in Aging Studies (dAS) Thesis Award for master's and Ph.D. theses on issues pertaining to the human rights of older people. This award aims to encourage scholars from different fields of social, behavioral, administrative and human sciences to conduct original empirical aging studies research in Turkish universities.

This year’s award recipients are as follows:

Hatice Karakaş – “Creating Dementia-Friendly Environments in the Context of Person-Environment Fit and Recommendations to Local Governments”

Veli Özkurt – “Effective Use of Gerontechnology in The Process Of Care: A Qualitative Study Related To Perceptions Of Caregivers”

Elif Güngör – “Factors Affecting Preferences of Time Use by Age Groups: A Comparative Analysis on United Kingdom and Turkey”

The award ceremony took place at Akdeniz University on December 13, 2019.  Academics, students, representatives of Municipality, NGOs representatives and journalists attended the award ceremony where all three of the recipients winner presented their theses to the audience.
